In July 2020, Public Health Awakened, Human Impact Partners, and Right To The City Alliance, wrote and circulated an open letter to governors and state and territorial health officials urging them to enact policies to provide #HousingForAll to protect the public’s health during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The letter was signed by over 650 health workers and 50 health organizations around the country.
Access to housing is a human right, and is essential to public health – now more than ever, amidst the ongoing pandemic and economic crisis. But with federal unemployment payments and many eviction moratoriums set to expire, over 23 million people may face evictions. We need urgent action to keep people housed and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
